Congratulations! You may have reached the point in your conviction that you are close to completing probation. This means you may be eligible to have your criminal record expunged!
What is expungement? Expungement is the removal of a conviction from your criminal record. This means you will be able to legally state on any type of civil form/application that you have never been convicted of any type of crime. If your criminal record is expunged, you will be able to truthfully state that you were never convicted when applying for a job, student loan, mortgage loan, car loan, college application, etc… You will also become eligible for some professional licenses.
If you do not actively pursue expungement, your criminal conviction will appear in background checks for the rest of your life. Even if you are not currently applying for work or in a position to be concerned about your criminal record, we encourage you to pursue expungement immediately. The process takes time, and the sooner we get it started, the likelier you’ll be to have a clean record when you need one in the future.
